Are These The Most Confusing Tube Stations In London?
Paddington: apparently the 7th biggest bastard of a tube station to navigate. It surely doesn't help that there are two of them

King's Cross St Pancras is the toughest tube station to navigate, according to a Mastercard study that quizzed 1,000 commuters.

Here's the top 10:

  1. King's Cross St Pancras
  2. Bank and Monument
  3. London Bridge
  4. Oxford Circus
  5. Victoria
  6. Piccadilly Circus
  7. Paddington
  8. Liverpool Street
  9. Euston
  10. Stratford

Thoughts? Most of these firmly belong in the list. Paddington in particular is a bit of a bastard, due to it actually being two tube stations, while being denoted as only one on the official tube map. Bank and Monument, of course, are two stations as well; and it's not unusual for the less initiated to get tangled over their Euston and Euston Square. London Bridge frankly seems to shape shift every time we're there.

We must say that King's Cross seems reasonably straightforward to get around, compared to some of the others on this list — well signed, and suitably spacious in parts. We'd swap it out for Elephant and Castle.

This pair probably know more about the tube than you

Black Country bluster?

Among other findings in the survey was that commuters from the West Midlands are the most confident on the tube. 43% of people from that neck of the woods claim they never use an app to get around, as opposed to just 38% of Londoners. Hmm. Surely this is either Black Country bluster — or otherwise suggests that these commuters aren't as adventurous on the tube? Or perhaps we're underrating the cartographic nous of the denizens of Wolverhampton and Walsall... (It's worth pointing out that 40% of those from Yorkshire and Northern Ireland said they go app-less in London too, the braggarts.)

In other 'news', a whopping 58% of 24-30 year-olds rely on apps to get around the tube, while only 21% of those aged 75+ doing the same. Which leads us to conclude that some old dear from Dudley is tube-savvier than our own Geoff Marshall. Soz, Geoff.
