Custom House DLR station will reopen on Monday 8 January 2018 after being closed for almost a year.

The station closed in February 2017 to allow extension and modernisation works to take place ahead of Crossrail opening in December this year.

DLR trains heading towards both central London and Beckton will serve the station when it reopens next week. In other areas of the station, improvement works will continue, including the addition of two new staircases and new station canopies, all due to be completed by spring 2018. Once completed, the works will have doubled capacity at the station by 50%.

Mark Davis, Interim General Manager of the DLR, said:

We appreciate the patience our customers have shown while the station has been closed. Once fully complete, this important work will have increased capacity at the station by 50 per cent – making journeys better for customers and ensuring the station is fit for the arrival of Elizabeth line services from late 2018.

The number of people using the DLR has increased from 10 million in the early 1990s to nearly 122 million in 2016.

When the Elizabeth line opens there will be four stations where it interchanges with the DLR; Stratford, Canary Wharf, Custom House and Woolwich (for Woolwich Arsenal DLR station).
