TfL has announced plans for a new segregated cycle route in south-east London.
Cycle Superhighway 4 will involve 4km of segregated track between Tower Bridge and Greenwich.
The proposed route would run along Tooley Street, Jamaica Road, Evelyn Street and Creek Road, linking Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Deptford and Greenwich.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said:
I'm delighted to be able to announce plans to bring more than 4km of segregated cycle lanes to south-east London. We need more Londoners to cycle and walk for the good of their health and our air quality, and that's why we're working so hard make cycling safer and easier right across the capital. By bringing this route to an area of such high demand, this superhighway really will open up cycling to thousands more Londoners.
Londoners are being asked to submit their views as part of the consultation on the proposed route. the plans also inovled five new traffic light pedestrian crossings, the upgrade of more than 20 existing crossings, and the redesign of the Rotherhithe Roundabout.
Subject to the results of the public consultation, construction of Cycle Superhighway 4 is due to begin in late 2018.
