With TfL Rail — soon to be Crossrail — up and running between Paddington and Heathrow, we needed some new posters to announce the route to London. Who did TfL turn to for this vital task? Some talented kids who live along the Elizabeth line route.
Students were enlisted as part of a competition, open to those at primary schools, secondary schools, universities and other educational institutions near London's future railway. A key part of the students' brief was focusing on the benefits of TfL Rail now going to Heathrow. The works also highlight that it's now cheaper to reach the airport using TfL Rail than it was with Heathrow Connect.
Their posters pop with colour and vibrancy mirroring the excitement the city feels about Crossrail. We can only imagine the sense of pride the students feel every time they spot one of their posters around the network.
Chris Macleod, TfL's Customer Director, said:
It's been great to be able to exhibit these brilliant works of art in the new Elizabeth line trains running on TfL Rail from Paddington station.
These young Londoners are the future of our city and we are glad to share their original poster designs with thousands of people living and working in west London.
I hope that Aaron, Rene, Anjuma, Ellie and Eve will enjoy seeing their inspirational design work on TfL Rail ahead of the launch of the Elizabeth line in December.
