Neasden Temple: One Of London's Most Stunning (And Surprising) Buildings

The stunning Neasden Temple in north west London has been on an incredible journey. Constructed out of over 5,000 tonnes of stone, the building was handcrafted in India following the shipment of materials such as Bulgarian limestone and Italian Carrara marble. Over 1,500 skilled artisans worked on the carvings, and the resulting 26,300 pieces were taken on a final 6,300 mile journey to London, where they now call home.

The construction of Neasden Temple, also known as BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, is a true feat of engineering and the result of its painstaking assembly is simply breathtaking. Here's the final result.

Visit BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir at 105-119 Brentfield Road, Neasden, NW10 8LD. Admission is free and there are also free guided tours — visit the website for more information.
