Dacre Arms

Dacre Arms

The archetypal 'locals' pub', the Dacre oozes charm like a vintage motor oozes oil. Its curvy booths appear to have been upholstered in your great-gran's time, while the horse brasses and net curtains hold similar provenance. Signs outside boast of 'world wines' and 'chilled lagers', from a time when such things were not assumed. There is free wifi, though, which seems almost anachronistic. The beer range is alright — perhaps wider than many pubs of this character, but by no means an ale feast — and there's no food beyond salty snacks, but this is the cosiest place we can think of in the area for a relaxing conversation. And if the weather's warm, there's a pleasant garden out the back.

Quiz night is Sunday.
