Earl Derby

Earl Derby

This pub was editorially chosen for inclusion by Londonist.

Kilburn High Road is changing. The long run of Irish pubs and battered old local joints is slowly diminishing in favour of pubs like the Derby. Not everyone will be pleased with this development, but continual change is the nature of London.

You'll not have a bad time here. There's plenty of room for one thing. The main bar opens up into a large back room set for eating, but not overbearingly so. Food is of the Amerciana variety, with 'Ruby Jean's Diner' supplying an impressive list of burgers, wings and other fatty foodstuffs. Traditional British roasts are also available on Sundays. The drinks range is decent enough, with five draught ales and plenty of keg action. Above all, it's a fun, family-friendly place with plenty of board games, cosy sofas and large windows from which to watch the denizens of Kilburn walk by. Best of all, the Gents toilet door closes with a deafening squeak, like someone put a blow torch through a French horn.
