This pub was voted as one of the best in Walthamstow by Londonist readers.
Over in 'the village', the Nag's Head looks rather smart and well-to-do, something like a Chelsea gastropub. That's from the outside. Step inside, and the place is truly laid-back, with old bits of furniture, countless framed photos and a pride of cats spreading throughout the bar. Informal and friendly, you can't possibly have a bad time here, especially if it's sunny and you've found a seat in the beer garden. Speaking of beer, there's plenty on offer, with five or six draught pumps. Anywhere else, this would make the Nag's Head a real ale destination, but E17 is outrageously blessed with similarly well-stocked options. With a packed events programme, including life-drawing classes, a Monday pop quiz and live music, this is one hell of a local pub.
