Old Dairy

Old Dairy

This pub was editorially chosen for inclusion by Londonist.

Pubs in listed buildings. There should be more of them. In this case, it's a Grade II former creamery. The astounding exterior decorates Crouch Hill like a refugee section of the V&A. Inside, too, are memories of former use. A cobbled floor recalls the horse stables while a vast skylight floods the main room with light. This place oozes character like a leaky butter churn — more so than other properties in the Metropolitan Pub Co's often over-polished empire. It's also a whopper, with plenty of room to spread out whether you want to dine or drink. A small but interesting selection of cask-conditioned ales are available, including the local Stroud Green Hobbler. We've yet to try the food, but the dedicated dining area round the back was bustling on our most recent visit.
