The Stonhouse

The Stonhouse

This pub was nominated among the best in Clapham by Londonist readers.

Living up to its almost-name, the Stonhouse is a rock of a pub, doing everything well without particularly showing off — a hallmark of the small Three Cheers pub co. There's plenty of drinking space to the front and left of the bar, particularly well geared-up for groups of 4-6. A modest dining area is tucked around the back. It's minimally decorated, with various shades of brown wood and a cast iron frame adding to the solid feel. A small beer garden at the back adds further space, and boasts outdoor TVs for sporting occasions. The beer choice is pretty meh, with just two on cask during our visit (ignore the ubiquitous Timmy Taylor for the chain's own Three Cheers beer, which is excellent). Keg beers are also in short supply. The place is much more geared-up for wine and spirits, however, and cocktails can be procured around the £8 mark. We haven't tried the food, but what we saw looked very mouth-watering.
