Royal Inn On The Park

Royal Inn On The Park

This pub was voted one of the best in the Victoria Park area by Londonist readers.

This magnificent place looks and feels like it has some history. Cuddling up to the northern gates of Victoria Park, it has no trouble attracting custom. People spill out left, right and centre during the summer months.

It's very much a pub of two halves. The front bar has a lovely old (mahogany?) bar, incorporating a pedimented clock on Corinthian columns. Try saying that after a pint or three. Round the back, a large dining space known as the Garden Room (this time with composite columns) packs in the tables, presided over by a Discobolus statue. A small beer garden completes the picture. A reasonable selection of beers, particularly good on premium lagers, though nothing outstanding.

Quiz night is Tuesday.

The dining room can look a bit stark, but seats large groups.
