This pub was voted one of the best in Crystal Palace by Londonist readers.
The Sparrowhawk is one of those places that pitches itself more at eaters than drinkers, although you won't feel uncomfortable if you're not after any nosh. An island bar is surrounded by a very wooden, modern interior that can feel a little cold when empty, but soon cheers up when the crowds arrive. A compact beer yard fits in four large tables. The function room is put to good and varied use, with regular comedy, music, yoga and tai chi. Perhaps not one to bundle into with a load of tipsy pub crawlers, but certainly a good bet if you're after a relaxed weekend afternoon in a small group. Oh, and be sure to pop a few doors along to the superb Good Taste food shop, which vends wonderful wines, beers and cheeses.
