The Talbot does everything a good pub should without ever getting flaunty. Friendly staff, real ales, board games. However...the real joy of the place is to ascend to the first floor and colonise one of the balcony areas. From up here, you can feel like King or Queen of Dalston, or De Beauvoir, or both. If it's too cold to sit on the balcony, the upper rooms are still the best bet for a relaxing drink. Sunday lunch is popular, and you're advised to book ahead to guarantee a table.
